MURSHED PROGRAMME
The Youth Rangers Programme is an educational programme focused on youth and will expand EAD’s volunteering programme, which is aimed at inspiring and engaging committed individuals in environmental protection and conservation. Through connecting youth to UAE’s natural heritage, educating students about environmental concerns and opportunities in the Abu Dhabi Emirate and providing them with academic and professional development opportunities, youth are empowered to be actively involved in the protection of nature across their personal, academic and professional endeavors.
The overarching programme aim is to introduce youth to career opportunities in environmental education & protection, create leadership activities and professional development occasions through youth ranger training and implementation while increasing environmental awareness and UAE natural history knowledge for students and teachers through school visitation to Abu Dhabi protected areas.
Mission: To engage, empower and equip youth as environmental stewards in their personal, academic and professional lives.
Vision: To provide nature leadership volunteer hours by which youth; are empowered with skills and knowledge to educate, inspire and lead younger generations, recognize opportunities and benefits of pursuing careers around environment and nature protection, enhance school visitation and education opportunities in nature reserves across the Abu Dhabi Emirate.
Who can be a ranger?
Cycle 2 and cycle 3 students in Abu Dhabi
When is it happening?
The training will take place at Jubail Mangrove Park from 18-12-2023 till 22-12-2023. Following the training, students can volunteer all-year round at the reserve.
What Will I learn?
The on-site training will enhance your personal development while encouraging an appreciation of Abu Dhabi's natural history. The training will offer you:
- The chance to learn new things.
- The opportunity to make new friends.
- A chance to familiarize yourself with the importance of eco rangers.
- More insight into gaining skills such as leadership.
- Increased environmental awareness.
How will I learn?
Through a structured learning environment, you will be introduced to the wide-ranging roles and responsibilities of ecorangers, and during the Murshed programme you will get the chance to act as:
- A tour guide
- A visitor assistant
- Inspector and Patroller
- Researcher and Reporter
Programme Criteria:
The applicable criteria for youth rangers programme participants
Environmental Awareness:
Students should be aware of Abu Dhabi's environment, species, and their fragility. They should be inspired to contribute to the improvement of the environment.
Activities:
Students recommended for the programme should be involved in school and environmental activities.
Commitment:
Nominees should demonstrate a high level of dedication and interest towards participation in the Ranger Programme. Students should demonstrate dedication towards conserving the environment in their daily lives.
Skills:
Students should display teamwork and leadership qualities in school activities.
