Established in 2009, SSI is a holistic programme that brings together students, parents, teachers, and support staff, and links them to the wider community. The components of SSI are interactive and participatory; teachers become facilitators and encourage students to discover solutions independently.

By participating in this initiative, your school gets the opportunity to:

• Build Schools' capacity in auditing, monitoring, and managing environmental impacts with best practice.
• Empower students to reach out to the community
• Receive training and resource material for teachers and learn new skills for delivering effective environmental education
• Expose students to hands-on field experiences

This programme will not only help reduce your school’s ecological footprint but also help increase its ecological handprint, these are actions towards achieving sustainability. Participation in this programme helps schools assess environmental performance standards, as each component of SSI has a specific scoring weightage.

• Train the Trainer
• Field trips
