What’s At Stake? Species Edition

PART II: Birds

Although we see birds migrating more than other animals every year, some species will soon not be able to move to more hospitable climates.

If the planet warms more than 2 degrees Celsius, 38% of the birds in Europe and 72% in north-eastern Australia could become extinct.

Types of Birds Impacted

Some decreasing bird populations are the tawny eagle in Asia and Africa, common guillemots around the coasts of Britain and Ireland, Arctic skuas and terns, and the Scottish crossbill.

Warming of the earth is also damaging the habitats of the Siberian cranes, tufted puffins, Galapagos penguins, red-tailed black cockatoos, and many other birds worldwide.
